Repairing a rare bird - The Weekly Auto Orient King Diver
This is a very rare Orient brought in for repair by my regular customer.
Not your regular Orient, this Weekly Auto Orient King Diver is a prized collection if you happen to own one.
The dial is lacquer coated with prints stating Weekly Auto Orient King Diver and a small window at 3 O'clock for the date and an arched window at 6 O'clock for the kanji japanese day.
This is one of Orient's first ever made automatic movement and there is no calibre found on the movement plate.
It just shows 25 jewels , orient watch company.
One of the highlight of this watch is the pellaton winding system which is also a patent of IWC in 1946.
With the help from the owner, donor parts were sourced to fix the faulty and missing parts to complete the restoration of this watch movement.
I just love to see this rare japanese bird running in good condition again.
